Let’s Show Up

My reflections- 21.1.21

Just sitting here reflecting on the many firsts of yesterday! If nothing else, yesterday taught us that we should not let our age (young or old), race, sex, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, past failures or successes limit us! (Big up President Joe Biden, Amanda Gorman, Vice President Kamala Harris, Eugene Goodman, Sonia Sotomayor and many others).

Yesterday the ceiling, if not raised, was cracked and I encourage all who dare to believe and whose purpose pulses strongly in their veins to keep reaching and obliterate it. Reach with discipline, perseverance, love, humility, faith, passion, positivity, boldness, courage and expectation!

The unseen but heard and answered prayers and tears that were uttered and released for centuries and days before yesterday occurred, must be saluted and celebrated. Many died in faith believing and sacrificed greatly for the euphoric demonstration of love, hope, respect, pride, peace and unity displayed in America yesterday.

And what of the individuals who recognized that “evil persists when good men do nothing” and spoke up? What of those who previously thought that they and their vote didn’t count but isn’t it true that it was him/her that we can account yesterday’s display to? What of the individuals who put their politics, reputations and careers on the line in recognition that humanity deserved better? Well, they demonstrated the power of the individual and the notion that YOU and what YOU DO matters.

While I knew before yesterday, the great power that lies on the inside of me, yesterday strengthened my resolve to go the distance, never shrink back, reach for the impossible and to know my worth! I have something great to release to the world, indeed I have already made great deposits.

H.E. Luccock said, “no one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it.” While the power of the individual isn’t nominal, the power of us working together is formidable, transformative and phenomenal.
